Gingerbread Dough

This easy gingerbread cookie dough is great for making cut-out gingerbread cookies.

It can be used to make a wide range of gingerbread cookies and is a great make-ahead gingerbread cookie dough for your holiday baking!

Ingredients 

• 375g plain flour 
• 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda

• 3 tsp ground ginger
• 120 g unsalted butter (cold & cubed) 
• 175g light brown sugar
• 5 tbsps golden syrup
•  1 medium egg

Instructions 

1. Preheat your oven to 190C/180C Fan and line 3-4 baking trays with baking paper.

2. Add the flour, bicarbonate of soda, and ginger to a large bowl, sieve or whisk dry ingredients to
3. incorporate well, add the cold, cubed butter to the bowl and mix.

3. Rub together with your fingers until it resembles breadcrumbs. Optional, mix in a food processor.

4. Mix the sugar into the mix and combine, and then add the golden syrup and egg – beat with a spatula/your hands until it is a smooth dough.

5. Leave to rest in a refrigerator for at least 1hr.

6. Knead the biscuit dough, and then roll the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface.

7. Roll it out to 1/2cm thickness and cut out your desired shapes.
8. Place them on the lined baking trays and bake in the oven for 10-11 minutes, cool on a wire rack fully, and then decorate how you please!
